Storage Equipment And Trailer

A place to keep equipment and trailers from exposure to weather is necessary on any farm.  This protection from the elements will extend their working life and your investment.  Just as important is the organization of equipment away from horses because, on any farm, there is potential for a horse to get loose and exposed equipment would pose a danger to them.

I have seen an extra stall used for this purpose, and I have also seen specialized buildings built to contain equipment and trailers.  I have seen organizational spaces set on walls and nails hammered into trees for hanging things.  Whatever works to protect them and your horses and organize stuff for quick access and efficiency to maintain your barn will work for equipment and trailer storage.  Here are some ideas.

Hand made barn (except crane and cement footers). Hand cut hemlock structures, pine siding boards, pegs made of either hemlock or oak. Pegs soaked in home made boric acid to prevent insect damage. Copper plate between cement and post to prevent damage. all joinjts, slots, pegs and posts cut by hand . Pre assembled then torn down and then assembled on site with help from neighbors and a crane.

Laundry machines in south florida need no protection from the weather.
Carts double stacked and out of the way. The feed room shelves are neat. The shredded blue tarps blowing in the wind keep the dirt out of the loft but allow people to see what is up there.

Shaving waste is piled into the roll off container. Straw waste is piled on the asphalt. Other supplies and equipment are organized and stored within this large walled off arera of this boarding barn.
