Neck dimples

Neck dimples are congenital defects in the connective tissue under the skin of horses. They can occur anywhere but are most common along the necks of horses.

Natural dimples in the neck of this horse are commonly found in newborn horses. They are incidental findings and I often used them in identification for the Coggins test.
Neck dimples
This is a neck dimple and is commonly called a thumbprint and some call it the thumbprint of God. These can be found anywhere on the neck and is a common birth anomaly.
